I am a death penalty defense attorney and trainer for the Connecticut Public Defender system. I am convinced that a majority of Americans prefer progressive ideas but that we need to communicate them forcefully if we are to be perceived as credible leaders and win elections.

I've just started reading the book, "Perfectly Legal: the Covert Campaign to Rig Our Tax System to Benefit the Super Rich --and Cheat Everybody Else," by David Cay Johnston. In it he quotes statistics from the 2000 National Bureau of Economic Research report that showed that 28,000 men, women, and children (13,400 households) had slightly more income that the 96 million poorest Americans. The author then paints a truly ugly picture. "To visualize the enormity of this chasm imagine these two groups in geographic terms. The super rich would occupy just one-third of the seats at Yankee stadium, while those at the bottom are the equivalent of every American who lives west of Iowa -- plus everyone in Iowa."
It cries out for an ad, doncha think? I myself was hoping to see it during the SuperBowl. Heh.
So - more power to ya in your ads and in your "real" work.
